Judging and Voting Details and Prizes

Preliminary Judging

  • Any submissions received after the posted date will be disqualified. Online submissions must be received by midnight PST on Monday, August 17. Mailed submissions must be postmarked by Wednesday, August 12.
  • Initial recipe entries will be scored on creativity and use of ingredients.
  • A professional chef will prepare recipes. The top six recipes will be selected based on creativity and use of ingredients, taste, consistency and texture, and quality of cheese flavor.
  • All decisions are final and scores from preliminary judging will not be made public.

“People’s Choice” Voting

  • This year attendees will vote for a “People’s Choice” winner at the Grand Finale Cook-off event.
  • The “People’s Choice” winner will be announced at the Grand Finale cook-off on Friday, October 23.

Grand Finale Judging

  • All Macaroni and Cheese Contest finalists must arrive at the designated cook-off location by 9:00 a.m. on the day of the cook-off.
  • Six finalists will present their macaroni and cheese dish in front of a live audience and panel of judges.
  • Finalist's recipes will be awarded points by a panel of culinary and celebrity judges, and the finalist with the highest number of points will be awarded the grand prize.
  • The grand-prize winner will be announced Friday, October 23 after judges have finished scoring all entries.
  • All decisions are final and scores from the grand finale cook-off will not be made public.

Prizes

  • The Grand-Prize Winner will receive $5,000 cash, 25 pounds of Tillamook® cheese, and other various prizes.
  • First runner up will receive $2,000 cash, 20 pounds of Tillamook® cheese, and various other prizes.
  • Second runner up will receive $1,000 cash, 15 pounds of Tillamook® cheese, and various other prizes.
  • People’s Choice winner will receive $1,000 cash, 10 pounds of Tillamook® cheese, plus various other prizes.
  • Recipes may be featured on the Web site and possibly on product packaging.
